BLESSINGS ON YOUR JOURNEY!

  • What is the worship style at Denbigh United?
We offer a thematically unified worship experience that features both traditional and contemporary elements in a comfortable setting. We sing many types of music and include some liturgy, all prayerfully guided by the Holy Spirit.
  • What’s the preaching like at your church?
The preaching at DUPC focuses on one or more scripture passages and seeks through the Holy Spirit to not only inform but also transform. We strive to make our preaching applicable to the challenges of daily life.
  • Who goes to your church?
Our in-person and on-line worshipers are a diverse group of believers and seekers at different places along their faith journeys. Denbigh United members and friends tend to prioritize faith in action.
  • Are small children welcome in worship?
Absolutely! People of all ages are welcome in worship. We enjoy children in worship and offer a special time for them during the service. Families may also utilize our nursery for infants and children 4 years old and younger.
  • Is childcare available?
Childcare is available in our nursery starting at 9 a.m. for infants and toddlers. Sunday School is available for children who are 4 years old through high school. Childcare is available during worship (10:30 a.m.) for infants and children up to 4 years old.
  • Is the church handicap accessible?
Our main entrance from the back parking lot is handicap accessible via the sliding glass doors. For events and activities in our fellowship hall, the other entrance from the back parking lot is also handicap accessible. We have two restrooms which are handicap accessible, with automatic door openers. There are no steps within the church and the sanctuary accommodates wheelchairs. We offer hearing assistance systems for worshipers upon request.
  • May a visitor take communion?
At DUPC and in the Presbyterian Church, we see communion as a twofold opportunity: to remember Jesus' final meal with his disciples before his crucifixion, including what he taught that night; and, in the spirit of that meal and sacrifice, to affirm our togetherness with God and one another in the present. Anyone who feels led by the Holy Spirit to participate in that is welcome to join in the meal. We pray it will bring you closer to both God and neighbor.
  • Who can be baptized in your church?
People of all ages may be baptized in our church. Members may present their children to be baptized. Anyone who wishes to profess his or her faith in Jesus Christ and join the church is also welcomed to be baptized.
  • What should I wear when I visit?
Adults at our church generally dress in business casual attire while teens and children often dress more casually.
  • How do I join the church?
We would be honored to have you join Denbigh United and partner with us in ministry. Please let one of our pastors know if you are interested in membership. We offer New Member classes several times a year where you will be welcomed to our community and learn more about Presbyterian history, beliefs, and governance as well as the ministries of Denbigh United. The class lasts approximately 3-4 hours, including lunch, normally on a Sunday afternoon. Attending the class is a way to explore membership and meet new people.
  • May I get married at Denbigh United?
We would be delighted for you to get married at Denbigh United. You can view our Wedding Guidelines Booklet here. Please note that our pastor’s require four sessions of premarital counseling when they perform weddings.
  • What should I do if I have more questions?
If you have more questions, you may contact our pastors by calling the church office at (757) 877-2048 or emailing session@denbighunitedpres.org.
