Quality Matters

Research shows that quality child care and early learning programs positively impact children's development, resulting in more success in school and life. Your child's brain is built from the bottom up, with early experiences setting the stage for all later development.

Our Philosophy

Denbigh United Presbyterian Preschool endorses a curriculum based on the developmental-interaction approach in all areas of child development: social/emotional, cognitive, and physical. The curriculum focuses on the developmental stage of each child, to include language acquisition on the premise that all children learn best through interacting with materials, activities, peers, and adults. Emphasis is placed on child-initiated learning with direct "hands-on" experiences. Growth of cognitive (intellectual) development, such as problem solving and recognition of letter and number symbols should not be separated from the growth of personal and interpersonal processes, such as self-concept and cooperation.

The teacher has the important task of creating a safe physical environment in which positive social interactions and high self-esteem will develop, as well as the task of preparing the environment for cognitive learning. The teacher strives to provide constant encouragement and praise, not only for the child's accomplishments but also for the processes which he/she goes through in achieving those accomplishments.

Enrollment

As a church sponsored school, we offer a Christian environment in which the children learn simple songs and stories of an interdenominational nature. We accept children of all religions, races, and ethnic backgrounds. Additionally, we accept special needs children who will benefit from participating in a mainstream setting. We believe that parents are their children's most important teachers and we welcome and encourage their participating in the Denbigh United Presbyterian Preschool program!

Children between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years are eligible for enrollment in the following classes:

ENROLLMENT AGE GROUPS

◼︎ Children 3 years old by March 31 may enroll in our 2.5-year-old-program

◼︎ Children at least 3 years of age by September 30 may enroll in our 3-year-old program

◼︎ Children at least 4 years of age by September 30 may enroll in our 4-year-old-program

REQUIREMENTS

◼︎Your child's official state issued birth certificate must be presented for review prior to the first day of attendance. No copies will be accepted.

◼︎Denbigh United Presbyterian Preschool asks for a complete School Physical and an up-to-date copy of immunization records prior to the first day of attendance.

◼︎Children in the 2.5 year-old-class must be in pull ups or underwear and potty trained by the time they turn 3 years old.
