The summer quarter for the Adult I Bible Study Class begins June 6 and with it a name change to Ancient Words (Adult Bible Study). The class has been labeled Adult I for more than 40 years because when it was established there was an Adult II. Adult I is not very descriptive and the class was inspired to change the name to the hymn of the same name as being more descriptive of our primary mission of Bible study. Interestingly, the curriculum we use to guide our study is The Present Word because, as the lyrics of the hymn go, “ancient words ever true, changing me, changing you.” The theme for the summer quarter is God’s gift of faith as the source of hope and will include readings primarily in the Gospels and Epistles of the New Testament, although one lesson will take us to the Old Testament book of Leviticus. The class meets every Sunday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 in the Conference Room where there is plenty of space. The summer quarter continues through August 29. Each weekly class is an independent study, so whether you attend regularly or from time to time, you are always welcome.
